Historic Copperhill, Tennessee welcomes you to our official city homepage!

Our unique and historic town straddling the state line with Georgia and our sister city of McCaysville is a great starting (or ending) point to enjoy three nearby National Forests and all they have to offer (The Cherokee, Chattahoochee and Nantahala), the world-famous Ocoee River, site of the 1996 Olympic Games whitewater events, world-class whitewater and paddling sports, as well as the largest wilderness area in the Southeastern United States, the nearby Cohutta Wilderness Area.  The gentle Hiwassee river is also nearby with year-round outdoor recreational opportunities such as fly-fishing and rafting and paddling sports.  Many world-class motorcycling routes pass near or through Copperhill - we offer direct access to the Cherohala Skyway and Deal's Gap on the North Carolina-Tennessee border.

Copperhill is also pleased to be in the process of becoming a railroad enthusiast's paradise, with two excursion trains operating regular passenger service to our town.  One trip takes passengers through the spectacular Hiwassee River Gorge and around the Bald Mountain Loop, where the railroad literally circles a mountain and can cross back over itself!  Many of our historic buildings and homes in Copperhill (located in the town's three designated historic districts) are in the process of being restored, updated and brought back to their historic glory.

Our town's history is unique and rich and includes many aspects, much of it centered around our industrial heritage and the Copper Mining that took place in the nearby area.  This historical aspect makes our town different from many surrounding towns in our region, especially when you consider the fact that we have the Georgia/Tennessee state line running through the middle of our streets in many places (and through some buildings as well!).

Copperhill is also a great place to open and operate a business.  There is no personal income tax in Tennessee, making us an attractive alternative to our neighboring states.  Our town also offers all the latest in telecommunications infrastructure, including hi-speed data and wireless technologies.  We have an enthuistaic and capable workforce, an award winning medical center and recently opened new high-school.

Come visit us and stay for a while!
